15. happiness
we finally put together our 全盒 (cheun hup) for chinese new year. filled with some possibly sickeningly sweet candies and lots of dried fruit & veg. got some lotus root, coconut, wintermelon, carrot, lotus seeds….. one of my favourite traditions of chinese new year, and this is the first time i’m doing it in my own home!
especially exciting because my mom gave me her spare cheun hup, which is an awesome vintage tin that my grandparents brought over from hk. totally childhood nostalgia.

On the way to Simon’s Wok on Gerrard Street.

simon’s wok is our monday night dinner ritual. there’s an old chinese couple who eats there every monday at the same time and sean & i always joke that we’re going to become them in 40 years, ordering one plate of chow mein and paying in coins.
