Wendell Pierce to Open a Grocery Store in New Orleans
Healthy Foods in non-rich neighborhoods:

“The store will offer a free shuttle to anyone who spends $50 or more, so they need not walk or take the bus with heavy bags. Each month, the store plans a cookout (which in New Orleans usually means a crayfish boil) to raise money for the community.”

You want slow food movement? Take some notes from this film clip.

I guarantee you’ll never look at a ramen bowl the same way again.

Tampopo (1985, Juzo Itami)

“First, caress the surface with the chopstick tips. To express affection. Then, poke the pork. Just touch it. Caress it with the chopstick tips. Gently pick it up, and dip it into the soup on the right of the bowl. What’s important here is to apologize to the pork by saying, ‘See you soon.’”

this is one of my favourite films. konnichiwa is a local japanese restaurant (i love that they don’t do sushi, most things are comfort foods; curries, noodles, don bowls, etc) and they have a big Tampopo poster and offer “tampopo ramen” on menu.

29. inside your fridge.
best things in this photo:
two homemade bibimbaps that me & my friend dien had for lunch today
tub of daikon dongchimi that sean’s grandma made for us
raspberry plum wine
about 10 vitasoy fruit drinks (lychee, chrysanthemum, lemon, blackcurrant)
hartley’s lemon curd from the UK
one tin cafe du monde vietnamese chicory coffee.
neither me or sean consume eggs & milk but they’re in there and i can’t remember why we needed it in the first place, but probably for testing recipes. there’s also a huge bottle of shrimp oil from my brother’s restaurant that i don’t know what to do with because cooking it on med-high heat makes it lose it’s flavour…. i put it on noodles mostly but what else…. suggestions?
